Sweet Venison Roast

This great sounding recipe for sweet venison roast was submitted by Tina, from North Bay, Ontario, Canada. It looks like it would be a great tasting venison dish. I wish I had some maple sap so I could try it!

Here's the recipe...

Sweet Venison Roast Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

  • deer roast
  • sap from Maple tree
  • potatoes
  • carrots

Recipe Instructions

This is an all time favorite back home during Spring when the family gets together to harvest Maple syrup. Put the roast in an all metallic pot (do not use one with plastic handles, a cast iron pot is best) add the sap filling to just above the roast, cook above an open fire for about 1 hour, checking if it needs more sap and flipping the roast. Add potatoes and carrots after 1 hour and cook for another 30 minutes. At that time you can put in dumplings if you like. (Cook dumplings for recommended time). Enjoy a sweet tasting roast!

Great recipes can become family traditions, like this one has. Lots of recipes are made only on certain occasions, or at certain times of the year. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful maple venison roast recipe, Tina. I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy it.
