Deer Jerky Recipe

Do you like spicy tacos? This easy deer jerky recipe is flavored with your favorite dry taco seasoning mix.

Choose a good packaged taco seasoning mix for this jerky recipe. A few ingredients are added, then the dry seasoning mixture is sprinkled evenly onto the surface of the venison before drying.

Preparing The Deer For Jerky

This is a sliced venison jerky recipe. To ready the meat for seasoning, cut the venison into one-quarter inch thick slices. Partially freezing the venison will make it much easier to cut evenly, which is important for uniform drying. Visit How To Make Deer Jerky for more information about slicing venison for jerky.

Taco Flavored Deer Jerky Recipe

For this jerky recipe, you'll need venison, taco spice, and a few other ingredients. Here's a list of what's needed...

3 pounds sliced venison
3 packs taco spice mix (the size meant for 1 pound of ground beef)
1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon Accent® (has MSG to enhance flavors)
1 teaspoon Tender Quick® (meat curing mix)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper or black pepper (optional)

Combine the dry ingredients thoroughly. Season the venison strips on all sides with the mixture, pressing it into the meat with your hand.

Dry the seasoned deer jerky in a dehdrator or in your oven. If you've never used an oven to dry jerky, visit How To Dry Deer Jerky, where you'll find lots of useful information about drying jerky in an oven or in a dehydrator.
