Slow Cooker Deer Stew

Make your life easier by starting this recipe for slow cooker deer stew in the morning before you head out the door to work. When you get home, the house will smell wonderful, and supper will be ready to eat.

To make this recipe really easy, prepare the venison and the veggies the night before. Put everything into the crockpot and put it in the fridge. When you get up in the morning, take it out and plug it in. Here's what you'll need...

Two pounds of venison, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
Two tablespoons oil
Two stalks celery
One medium onion
Two large carrots
One cup chopped potatoes
One clove garlic, minced
One tablespoon chopped parsley
One-half cup each of red wine and water
One cup tomato sauce
Salt and pepper


Add the oil to a hot skillet and brown the venison. Chop the vegetables into 1/2 inch pieces and place into the bottom of the slow cooker with the other ingredients. Place the browned venison on top of the veggies.

The slow cooker deer stew needs to cook for 7 to 10 hours on low heat in the crock pot. Turn it on just before you go to work and it'll be done to perfection when you get home. It's a great way to end the day.
