my 13-point, opening day nov. 14, 2009, btw: i look much different now and dont have glasses
It was opening day of deer season in Kentucky for modern rifle, and I was going to go huntin with my new Browning X-Bolt .270. Me and my dad had set up a blind about 300 yards from the house in the woods, making this my second year deer hunting.
I had never seen a buck out around there, plenty of does, but no buck. So I was prepared to take a doe.
We went out in the blind at about 6:45, and it began to get daylight in the next 20 minutes or so.
we both figured we would be waiting a while for the does to come out to find the corn, but about 40 minutes into the hunt, a big 13-point buck came across my right hand side about 75 yards away.
We both got excited...and nervous. I pulled my gun up to my shoulder and took the safety off, wile poking it outside the blind window. I tried to move slow, careful not to spook it. He was right in front of me now, bout 60 yards.
I scoped in on him, and took the shot. He then ran 30 yards and dropped. I couldn't believe it! My first deer, a 13-point, at 14 years old. I am now almost 16 and killed a small button buck just this morning, but wanted to share my story and hope to beat my buck.
